Loctite 609 (or is it 906) is the same stuff. I did a foolish thing with it
once..... I had a bad shaft in a Simplicity gearbox with a wobbly keyway. The
dealer said they did not have a shaft in stock so I bonded the key in to the
sloppy slot and slid the gear on. The gear was sloppy too so I put some on the
end of the shaft. I knew it was a temporary repair and planned on rebuilding the
whole unit later. Within 4 hours the dealer called me back and said he did have
a shaft. I went and picked it up, then went to press off the gear.

It would not come off with our little 20 ton press. I was afraid to put it on
something bigger. I heated the whole thing up with the torch and finally got it
off. Sure, now I had a de-tempered gear and the dealer did not have that either.

Anyhow, That Loctite is an excellent metal to metal glue. I hold Rack and pinion
sections to steel framework without any fasteners !
