I have even put 1/4" holes into the drawing and then subsequently machined
them into a "dead" section of the material. When I am ready to "move" or re
"index", I will drop a bit, or preferably a Dowel pin into that hole, remove my
clamps and then let the machine itself drag the material via a move command to
the new location. Works excellent, can't go wrong !. Just re-clamp and start
cutting the rest of the project. This method does not take any real extra
thinking as I have enough to think about !
I usually use a fence for alignment along the X axis, so this helps the
location issue in the undraggable direction.
