yes, ive tried varicad, it was an older version. i didn't have the time to
get very far in it (i was experimenting with kernal compliling... and ended
up reinstalling...) it seemed very powerfull! when i contacted the company
they were extremely helpfull in pointing me in the right direction. varicad
is also supposed to have some nice features as far as assigning attributes
to objects (like part numbers, material... cost...) all exportable to
BOM's...
i tried the pro/DEsk too, it seemed very powerfull also, however the
licencing thing was too constrictive for me, and the lack of linux....

ps--->i personally use Qcad for linux for all 2-d stuff, its pretty cool!
