Hey there Ken,

Jon's edm is really simple, But it will and does work. If you want
something that you can burn a litte more controlled with there's a book
that's always on ebay that tells you everything that you need to build one
for less than $150 if you buy your materials correctly. I'm currently
building one right now, in fact. I went for some retail materails and
supply's and I've only spent 120 bucks so far.

I'm actually really impressed with the logic circuit that the guy came up
with to drive the stepper motor that feeds the electrode. The circuit
actually checks the voltage and adjusts or maintains the depth of the
electrode head for you automatically. The design even accounts for limit
switches and different current choices. All in all, it's 20 dollars for me
very well spent.

Here's a link.

I hope this gets you what you need.
