Martin,

The Triac came in a few different guises with variations on the
controller - I have a 1985 vintage one which I have sucessfully got
talking to a PC using Hyperterminal (part of Win 98), but you have to
top and tail everthing with 'EOT' characters (control Z iirc).

I am shortly going to pull out all the drive electronics from mine
and install a PC running EMC - the PC is up and running, the Gecko
drivers are bought - just not got round to finishing installation !
