Hi Jon, Jerry,
That's a good point! I haven't crashed any .DLL's, but Windoz 98
doesn't like it too much if you "just pull out the card" on an ATA
card. I am involved in writing PCMCIA drivers for a hand held computer
for automotive use, so I suffer this all the time. Best bet is to
"unmount" the "drive" each time, seems to help a little. I also save
open files before I yank the card. I still get "hangs" for the Windoz
exploder, and at that time, I dump the exploder, and then close out
everything and reboot. Other PCMCIA cards, Linear cards for example,
suffer less from this. I can generally work all day with them. I do
find them nice for working on a notebook computer! And I'm considering
getting a PCMCIA drive (or an IDE interfaced CF) for my "shop" machine.
