Hi, Sean:
Have you considered that one of your 'known working' boards was fried when
you inserted it into the system? It's often the case that, if the root cause
of your problem is something external to the electronics, not fixing that
problem causes any board you insert to be damaged immediately when power is
applied.
Just a thought....
