Brian,
The developers at NIST are friendly, and helpful. I'm pretty sure
that one of their retrofits had/has a tool changer. Don't be afraid
to give them a call. You are after all, paying for this<G> I'd start
with Fred Proctor. The phone numbers are on the NIST EMC site...
And while it may not be the BEST way, a tool changer CAN be
controlled with very few bits; starting with "index", "load/unload",
and "ready". A macro for the spindle can do much of the rest.
