What is transmitted is the scan code(s) which amount to the coordinates of
the key on the keyboard and what is any shift/ctrl etc keys are
active. So, the character on the key cap is mapped by the operating system
(or rom) into more or less meaningful values. If you change that map to
correspond to the images on the key caps, then WYSIWYG.
