This is far from what I know the theory for and just based upon
empirical knowledge. I think you need to be more concerned with the
resistance effect of a capacitor more as you get so that the cap is
being pretty well discharged on each cycle. I a power supply application
this would occur if you had a much smaller cap then what you are listing
below (lots of ripple current). I had a G201 customer that was having a
lot of heating on the 100 uf cap in the drive when they were running the
drive at high amperage. At that point the cap was acting more like a
resistor than a cap. The cure was to add the additional 470 uf caps to
the drive at the terminal block. Now the combine value was enough to get
it working like a cap again and not a resistor. If I remember correctly
the customer had fuses in the supply lines which also aggravate the
effect.
