Hi Andrew,

If it's the ones I'm thinking of, there is a little tab (perhaps two) on
the pin that is bent out, and prevents it's withdrawal. Examine a fresh
pin to determine the orientation, and I believe you can use a paper clip
to poke down into the back of the Molex connector, and press the tab(s)
back in. After that, you should be able to extract the pin. In some
cases, the extraction tool is little more then a thin wall tube, to do
the same task from the pin side of the connector. If you had (or made)
an appropriately sized tube, you could imitate the expensive tool! But
try the paper clip first!
