It is fairly easy to run 460 volts three phase in the home shop. I do it
all the time. For bigger stuff, I run a 240 volt rotary phase converter and
step it up to 480 volts with a three phase transformer. For smaller stuff,
I run 236 volts single phase through a single phase step up transformer to
feed an inverter VFD that puts out 3 phase.
