thin sheet glass for LCD's is cut by laser, I think they use the heat to run
the crack where they want it to go. No chipping, at 500 mm /sec. Don't
know about curves.

http://www.ptgindustries.com/fpd/fpd.htm has a picture of the machine.

My father working on this stuff in the 70's with a 1 kW CO2 laser, so I
suspect there is a mature technology somewhere.
