Acme / Ball Screw conversion

Hay Group:

I'm planning to convert the X-Axis on my Grizzly Mill/Drill
1006/1007, to a Ball Screw that I recently acquired from eBay.

My current Screw is an Acme 0.925" Dia, 10 T.P.I., approx 36" long.
My Ball Screw is 0.5" Dia. 5 T.P.I., with a nice double circuit ball
nut and angled end bearings.

My plan is to use a second ball-nut and spacer to make a preloaded
nut.

My question is... Which of the following, best represents my state of
mind and body, based on your gut feelings and this limited
information?

A) I will be very Happy and jump around the shop like a total idiot.
B) Kinda Ho-Hum "about the same performance" and at least... "no more
backlash".
C) Or Totally bummed out and... "what the Flying Frig will I do now!".

I totally have no clue about the loading factors and any differences
from the not so efficient Acme 1" and more efficient (but, only 1/2")
Ball Screw.
The Pitch difference, I can handle.
My goal (at this time) is to rid my life of backlash without losing
any performance.
Not that I can brag about the performance on this kind of machine.
It is my baby.

Come to think of it. That is what my wife says about me.
"Not much performance and a loose screw here and there".
