Hi Bill

The thing is... my version sometimes (perhaps all the time) keeps
the offset after an M30 command even though the GUI display
shows 0 offsets.

I think it is normal for M30 to cancel offsets in this rs274
dialect. I read the past posts about this in the archives.

All I have been able to do is try a safe MDI move to a
normally in range value and see if I get an out of range
error display.

I am still not sure exactly when and how this happens.
I know closing and restarting EMC makes the offset go away;
Losing power while EMC is running results in it waking up
with the offset so something is written to a file.
But in doing multiple auto mode file runs it is "sticky"
despite the 0 offset display.

I will run some more tests.
Sure don't want to run z into the table with a couple thousand
pounds of force.
