Yes, I've been quite worried about that. I have been planning on putting
a lot of effort into making hardware that supports EMC, and fear that EMC
is not getting any more popular than it was 2 years ago.

Well, I rarely have accidents in actual machining. It is usually when zipping
around during setup. One time I did plunge a drill bit into the work at
45 IPM, and amazingly, it drilled a hole most of the way through the part!
I somehow didn't set the G92 for Z axis zero, and the drill was a lot longer than
the tool that was last used (a spotting drill, of course).

Another time, I plunged a 1/8" solid carbide end mill into 1/8" aluminum, and
then started milling at 45 IPM. That time I had just forgot to do a G92 for the
Z axis, so the program thought it was clear of the work.
