LED will be much easier to read.
LCD has much longer battery life, as LED uses much more power. This would not matter in the least if you use wall current and not
batteries.
I'm not sure how LCD is any more versitle as you can use either a serial or parallel style display if you are buying a unit to connect to a
microprocessor.
