You only need a 5-axis machine if you want to make the entire impeller
without any manual intervention. You could stack an indexing head on
a large rotary table on its side, and change the rotary table in steps. Possibly
even turn the indexing head in steps of 15 degrees or so, and have the
program cut the shape from only those positions. That really wouldn't
be that much harder for the usual impeller shapes.
