Hi Richard,
I'm no genius as far as computers go either, I have just done this
enough times to make myself somewhat dangerous. Lots of people
helped me when I was first starting out.
I am not sure that the Cyrix processors will work but we can try. With
a 150MHZ, if it does work, you won't get a whole lot of speed from it
but it will probably be ok. Sometimes the step pulse can get a little
ragged which may cause motor stalling. The faster the computer the
better.
Sounds like you just copied the downloaded image file to the CD which
won't get you very far. If using a windows computer, you need to look
at the cd and see if you have one file on it named bdiemc216.iso or if
there are a bunch of directorys with many files.
If only one file, you will need to copy the image file back to your hard
drive, toss out that CD and create a new one. If you use Easy CD Creator
you can burn the cd pretty easy. Start up the Easy CD Creator program
and click on 'file', and then click on 'Create CD From CD Image'. Point to
the bdiemc216.iso image file and then create the CD that way. If using
some other CD burning software, you are kind of on your own, but there
should be some other way to do the same. If not, I believe you can download
a trial version of Easy CD Creator.
With that done, you should be able to use the boot disk from the
older 2.11 version with the 2.16 version. Set up your computer to boot
from a floppy by going into the computers bios and changing the settings.
On second thought, Since you already have a good working version, I
would stick the 2.11 version in, put in the floppy and try to load it with
that version. If all goes well, the 2.16 version should work fine also, and
it will be the same as loading the 2.11 version. Might save you some time
if your computer is incompatable in some way. Only takes about 1/2 hr
to load and is pretty painless, IF everything works ok. Just like loading
Windows. Answer some questions about your hardware and off you go.
Let us know how you are making out.
