If in either Acad 14 or Bobcad you draw the line at the correct z level,

Acad 14 is cumbersome in it's 3d capabilities. However, mirroring,
offsets, trimming and extends still work in 3d. You are not creating 3d
entities, just lines in 3d so shading, hiding etc, will not work. You can use
an isometric view point to see how everything looks in space.
