IMHO, using some of these upstart programs, especially those that come with
source code, could be quite useful in the right curriculum.
If you're attempting to train someone how to run a machine for a living in a
trade school environment, I think I'd pass on these and try to use something
that industry is using, which would be more in the order of Fanuc, Allen
Bradley, and others of that ilk.
If, however, you're trying to train a designer in how to design a part, how
to write G-Code, or training someone how to implement a system, the low cost
'hobby oriented' G-Code interpreter might actually be a better choice.

|safe, follow the herd and opt for "safe" software like MasterCAM :-(
