Re: Brushless servo motor + gecko drive

I used 192 oz-inch pacsci powermax II stepper motors on my sherline
cnc mill. I have seen the sherlines operated with as little as a 60
oz-in motor, but IMO that would be underpowered. I have never dealt
with brushless motors, but those motors look pretty powerfull (1.1N-
m...my 7000lb mill only uses 2.9N-m stall torque brush motors). Are
they reasonably priced? You will need an encoder on them. You will
also need to adapt the 3/8 inch shaft to the 1/4 inch shaft of the
sherline. Oh, and it would be a good idea to use thrust bearings
between the sherline leadscrew mount and the coupling. Perhaps the
sherline cnc ready mill already comes with all of this?
