Kulaga/Dan Mauch DRO board + Geckodrives

This was mistakenly posted to the list moderators instead of the general

I am putting together a servo box with Gecko G320 servo drives and would
also like to use the Kulaga/Dan Mauch DRO card. I would like to use the
DRO board because sometimes it's nice to just use my mill manually.
The encoders on my DC motors are HP HEDs units. Are there issues having
to do with electrical isolation/grounding that have to be addressed? My
thoughts right now are to must unplug the encoders and switch them from
the Geckodrives to the DRO board while milling manually.
Has anyone on the list experimented with this?
