I thought that a limit stop was the same function as an Estop condition for the controller program. I didnt know that they were 2 seperate things.Told ya I was a newbie!
So an Estop will cause you to lose position sync, and it stops movement abruptly?
Does a limit stop cause a position sync loss also? How does it stop the travel.....abrubptly also?(Im using steppers until I learn more, then Ill advance to servos)
I had planned on using microswitches with rollers on them, that would act as a limit stop as the table/saddle swept them. I just didnt know where to place them(ie, before the actual travel limit or at the end of travel)

To my knowledge the Ahha Artisan software and their RC-500 controller/driver
hardware (we're talking open-loop steppers here) is setup such that motion
is brought to a controlled stop (decelerate to stop) when a limit switch is
hit so that position is not lost. Because of this, all limit switches
should be setup to close far enough ahead of the physical axis limit to
allow for the required deceleration from max travel speed (speeds and
accel/decel are programmed in the Artisan software).

If this were not the case, I assume you would have to 're-home' the table to
re-establish position sync.

On the other hand, when an E-stop condition occurs all drives stop
immediately, usually resulting in loss of position sync.
