Hello Tom,
A quick and dirty solution (instead of getting the leadscrew
turned down) might be to get a coupling that can will accept 1/4 inch
on one side (presumably for the motor), and 3/8 on the other (for the
leadscrew). Then simply grind a flat area on the leadscrew (and
perhaps drill a small indentation) for the setscrew in the coupling
to tighten down to. I don't know if this will work for your
particualr application, but, just a thought.
