Thanks to all who responded. I will probably go the sherline
motor mounts route. Currently, I have a sunk cost of $208.
That is for the xylotex controller and 3 PowerMax II stepper
motors. (I already have a 10A 24V power supply and a
2A 5V wall wart.) The sherline stepper mounts seem to run
~$160.00 + shipping. That will bring my hardware total to
~$370. That will leave just the software costs, plus additional
tooling. All of this will still be with in my goal of being less than
$500.
