George,
I might be wrong, but I don't think the rectangular tubing on the
Taig conversion pictures is extruded. It sure looks like rectangular steel
seamless tubing, with a slight radius in the corners. A little bit tougher
to machine, but you can use a much thinner section, than you can with
aluminum. Also, if you have to tap some of the holes, you're much safer with
steel. Threaded holes in aluminum will strip out more easily, unless you put
some kind of inserts in the holes.
