The factory Sherline CNC upgrade does not have ball screws. If you have
found a ball screw set for the Sherlines I would love to have the info
on it. What the factory set does do is replace the longitudinal feed
screw on the lathe and the Z axis screw on the mill with another one
that has the exact same thread, but the end is machined different to
connect to the motor couplers.
So yes, you do need to replace the mill column screw if you are using
the Sherline CNC upgrade kits.
As far as the rotary table goes, there is not a factory conversion
method for them. People have made their own stepper adapters, but if you
want factory stuff you have to buy the table as CNC ready.
