Software Question...

I attempted this an hour or so ago and nothing happened - lets see
what happens this time....

Some software advertises that it is for stepper motors, some for
servo motors. Doesn't the driver match the motor and control
feedback from the encoder? I understand the open and closed loop but
how far back into the system does it go - into the software? I have
the mill sorted out (and on the way), the servomotors and drivers on
the way but the software baffeles me with choices. I have some time
to sort it out but some of you have been through this and I'm sure
can offer educated suggestions!
