I have build static converters, rotary converters, and used VFDs. By far
the best way is to just get a big enough VFD and connect it straight to
the single phase. Of course this is not a good solution if you have an
industrial machine that uses the 3 phase to run the control. But for 3
phase spindles it beats the converters all to heck.
