"Autodesk is VERY VERY VERY serious about prosecuting. If a business
buys one copy and puts it on every desk, they risk like $10,000 per
bootleg copy. an engineering firm with 100 desks is a target, but so
is the 2 person office."
I have had very bad experiences with AutoDesk. I was a faithfull
purchaser of "GenericCADD". I bought every upgrade,
their "Generic3D" and all of its' upgrades. This adds up to
thousands of dollars.
AutoDesk decided to strip the features from GenericCADD, keep what
they needed and no longer support the product. They offered
the "loyal customers" of GenericCADD "AutoCad Lite" at a price above
the 'street price' of the product. At that time the product was not
3D and one had to learn a new interface. I didn't consider that a
fair trade then and still don't now.
The only legal option one has when confronted with an attitude and
situation, as I see it, is to never let them see my wallet again.
There are many fine CAD products out there that don't feed a monster.
