Writing a hardware driver is pretty trivial - There is no need to add the
complexity and overhead of the comedi API. The comedi libs are more geared
towards a common API for passing data across the user space/ realtime barrier.
The RCS libs already provide this for EMC, so all that is needed is a few
basic IO read write routines.
If you were to use a "comedi API", you'd probably have to write the low level
IO routines any way.
