One cheap source of High Voltage, High Capacity, capacitors for a Homemade
EDM, are the used disposable cameras, they can usually be had for the asking.
Last time I asked a Walgreens for them, I got over 100 within a week, had to
ask them to stop saving them.
The ones I tore apart had a 330 volt, 160 MFD capacitor in them, and these
capacitors are rated for Photo-Flash usage, and this means a very high
discharge rate, as when a flash goes off, it is almost a direct short.
Parallel as many as you need to get your needed capacity, or using them
switched in to control your discharge, but be sure switches can handle the
high discharge rate.
