OK, let me reword this for those that want to nit pick. VM Free can do
2-1/2 D profiling based on a region drawn in the VM Free program. This
is based upon the profiling option being the only one available in the
2-1/2D machining operation menu and that VM Free will not import .dxf or
other line regions, nor will it do a 2-1/2D pocket, facing or engraving.

Yes you can sort of fake it by drawing a region manually and then using
the 3D roughing function with a bottom limit. But if they tried to sell
that as being 2-1/2 D functionality I think you would be the first one
to complain.
