Hi Peter,
You'll need to do a "copy" (windows command) of the PCL file first, then
do a "paste special" (under edit) in Vector CAD/CAM. Do you have the
CAM? I don't know if it's needed, but I generally open the PCL file in
the CAM editor first, copy it, then change over to the CAD side, and do
the paste special.
This of course assumes that you can generate a PCL file from the point
cloud.
Paste special doesn't care what the file extension is, mine are usually
LOG!
See the manual for details on the construction of the PCL file. I've
used this interface to convert from Gerber files. I generated arcs and
lines in my program from parsing, ordering and generating outline
sequences from Gerber files. Then I input them into Vector CAD/CAM, see
what I got, and can generate tool paths. Later I'll probably just
generate the Gcode instead, but the extra step was quite useful in
debugging. I currently have Vector's Gerber conversion program... Much
less work!
