Re: stepper vs servo

For everything but wood carving you could have saved money with
steppers but it sounds like you're going to have a nice heavy duty
system and I think you should go with servos. If you are careful
about your servo selection then you could try steppers using the same
mount design before going to servos. The trouble with that is to give
steppers a chance you have to buy nice (expensive) drivers like gecko
and then you're committed. I've used both and would not go back to
steppers.
