Hi John;

Why not upgrade the resolvers as part of this project. Replace them
with high resolution encoders an you should be all set.

While resover to quadrature converters have been known to work well, I
look consider that throwing good money onto worn parts. Seems to me
that unless those resolvers are relatively new that you would be better
off spending your money on new hardware. If that hardware is an
encoder all the better.

I'm not directly familiar with the Hardinge HNC, so you do have to be
careful about a couple of things. First make sure that the resolver is
not being used to commutate the motor, and be sure you have room for it.
