I don't use them at home, but do at work (in a mold shop :) The hole
poper is great for getting out broken drills, taps and will even put in a
hole up to 12 inches deep (with our small machine) faster then you could
even think about drilling it. The hole poper ( or any other edm) doesn't
even care if the metal is hard or soft. The wire gets used mostly for mold
work, but we do gripper fingers for the robots faster then you could even
think about just ruffing them out. About 15% of the wire work is just odds
and ends of machined parts. It's just a really fast easy way to do 2D parts
or 2D parts with angles on the cut faces. We have done some quick
replacement gears on the wire. The sinker is great for any time you need an
odd shape or square corner, cnc sinkers are also cool for doing textured
lines or lettering that have almost no depth.
