Sure. But, you need a matching servo amplifier for these motors. 3 phase
line power is irrelevant. What you need is a servo amplifier specifically
designed for driving 3 phase induction servo motors in general, and being
able to drive this motor specifically. If you check with Panasonic
(National Electric in countries other than the US) they probably list
between $2K - 3K. A VFD could drive these motors, but not in a
positioning application. An AC servo amp is a special case of a VFD,
designed with the more intricate control laws to handle positioning
of such a motor. Where it gets tricky is that every manufacturer has
a different way of hooking up the encoder that is required on such a motor.
Unless you have a lot of technical details (which the companies usually
never give out) it is almost impossible to hook up a Kolmorgen servo
amp, for instance, to Panasonic motors, due to the difference in the
encoders.
