Tom,
When I removed my encoders, NO; I did not remove the retaining clip first
as I was afraid I would damage the disk trying to get it off. With
pressure, the clip just came off first. As a matter of fact, I have one or
two on the mill that I did not put the clip back on. (You know why they
call them Jesus clips!!:) )
