Re: Sound proof box

When making some quiet rooms for a Chruch and for a hotel, we used
double sheets of drywall. the mass was the thing that prevented
sound travel. they has tried sound absorbing materials with little
success.

For the Church, we had an open space and we made one wall with a
standard sheet and the other side of that wall on seperate studs, so
the 2 walls were not connected. then put 2 sheets of drywall on one
of the walls to increase mass.

use vibration isolators for the stand to reduce vibration.

and remember, sound travels line of site, but will bounce off
objects. so if you have air holes and can see the motor thru them
you will also hear the motor thru them. a correctly designed baffle
will reduce the noise.

Look at the 'big picture' and don't rule out making your whole room
sound proof so as to allow you to work around the machine, or to make
hinged or interlocking panels for swing away for easy access.
