Hi Bill,
When I first started up my BDI-EMC I had the same problem. If I
remember correctly, to fix the problem, I went in to the emc.ini
file and changed the EMCMOT to run from FREQMOD.O instead of the one
it was going from. You would see
EMCMOT = FREQMOD.O
You only want one line active, so comment out the other with a
semicolon at the beginning of the line.

To get to the console, click on the big K in the bottom left, then
goto to utilities, then Konsole.

You can edit the ini file by running:
K - applications - Advanced editor.
The ini file is at
/usr/local/emc/emc.ini
