Brad,
I have some information on my web page at www.campbelldesigns.com.
Most of the controller programs like Mach1 allow the user to specify the
pins used.for the parallel port. Some are designed for input and others for
output.
The next step would be a control box that contains a power supply and the
stepper motor drivers like the Gecko drives.
In my control box, I also include a breakout board which provides complete
optical isolation between the parallel port and the control box. Details of
my breakout board are on my web page.
Let us know if we can help.
