Hi,
Sorry for the confusion, with my PIC controller through a serial
port the PC sends an ASCII string to the PIC, which converts the numbers to
steps, direction etc and then controls the motors, I have never interfaced
with a parallel port so I am probably looking too deep, I don't know what
KCam outputs to the parallel port, is it a 'string' type command or simply
raising and lowering the pins ?.

Hi Brad,
I'm a little confused on your PIC stuff.
you mention needing a parallel connection between the Kcam which I
assume you mean from the PC.
then you say it goes directly to the steppers, and here I assume you
mean to your PIC based stepper driver board. the output of that
board would then connect direct to the steppers.
The most simple method you can use is to put 26 screw terminals on a
PC board and put a 25 pin "D" connector on the board. on pin to each
screw terminal. Very straight forward layout.
Of course, there are a bunch of grounds that share pins so you may
not need 26 screw terminals.
and, if you want outputs, then you need to considder on-board
transistors or relays.
