Ron, If you want Cam with your controller program, check out
DeskCNC. In addition to automatic pocketing, drilling and
contouring, it has several capabilites that you won't find in an old
version of Bobcad. Functions such as raster to vector conversion
(tracing), height fields ( 3D from color depth), 3D surfacing of STL
files, Direct cutting of printed circuit boards from Gerber and
Excellon, centerline engraving, multidepth and angled side pockets.
And it has a Windows interface for the Cam and the integrated
controller outputs step and direction through the serial or USB port.

If you want 3D surface design and machining, lathe programming and
greater control over the machining process, check out VectorCam. It
is less expensive than Bobcad 18 for hobbyists, and imports "real"
surfaces from iges or stl files.
