wooden table for a router

Hi all,

I friend was amazed at my CNC stuff and since he is a carpenter, he
asked if I could make him one.

I told him that a steel table is $$$ and he asked if anybody uses
wood for the tables ?

the project woudl be to be able to have a work envelope for a 4 ' by
8' foot sheet of plywood, and the gantry would be of aluminum.
Linear rails for the gantry so only the table would be wood.

anbody do this with good results ?
