Thanks Harvey, I don't have any machining tools at the moment so
that design is beyond my means. Once I get a learning machine built
though, I plan to use it to build parts for the "real" machine.
There are some very good insights in your description which should
help me though both stages.
Not that I can't work metal. In the Navy I was a marine engineer.
Our fitting/machinist courses totalled about 9 months using
hacksaws, files, a drill press and a blueing plate and 6 months
using a lathe. I think I got 2 hours on a milling machine total! No
mills on the ships so we learned filing *real* good. Built a
sterling heat engine, 80% by hand.
