The schematic shows a PNP transistor. When the base of a PNP is
taken higher than the emitter then no current flows. The current to
turn on the PNP at the base flows to the Gecko and probably has
internal limit. It will probably work okay with a 10K on the base.
If not reduce the value.

I realize its a pain to try and figure out which driver faulted but
on my table with 4 340's I find that faults are uncommon and when
they occur there are major issues I need to deal with. Usually the
fault condition is mechanical and fairly obvious (normally some
stupid move on my part). On the torch table I haven't had a fault in
months. The last one was where I tried to jog the X axis into the
stops....servos don't like that!
