If this is a fixed gantry design then I would go ahead and put in the
stiffeners. On a small table of 13 X 26 2" square tubing is pretty
strong unless you plan on mounting a mongo router and cutting 3/4
solid oak in one pass! Do you have gussets at the top 45 corners
welded to the outside?
If it's a moving gantry then weight starts to become an issue and
bracing should be added only where necessary.
Z axis is fixed so weight is not an issue. There have been some mini-
mill head only assemblies on Ebay. I thought that might make and
interesting addition too the system. The lower end X & Y supports
the usage. Just the Gantry would have to be very stiff for this
usage.
