The preload assembly will need to be tailored to suit. Mine will differ
from Kim's due to machine space constraints. It is simply a block with the
ballnut threaded into it, with provision to bolt the block to a similar
block on the other ballnut. Use fine thread for the preload tension bolts.
Studs with fiber lock nuts would be better for fine tuning and to prevent
loosening during use. Hope this helps. Mine isn't built yet but that's
pretty much how I will do it, which is similar to Kim's arrangement.
P.S. the whole preloaded nut arrangement on Kim's machine is about 5"
length. Mine for my mill will be pared down to 4", which looks like the
minimum I can possibly do. This is a big constraint, as many machines won't
allow for that much room, so some fanagling (is that spelled right?) may be
in order to make it all fit. Kim had to machine some webbing away on his
lathe cross slide to get the stuff in.
Good luck.
